The Idea

“Live and let live” has always been a good motto for any society. However, this motto does not seem to apply for everyone, as some groups are not granted the same freedom to live as who they are.

Oftentimes fear and/or insecurity seem to be the driving factors that lead to the non-acceptance of groups of people with a ‘different’ way of living. Such as when it comes to the topic of gender identity.

People who don’t identify with the gender they were assigned at birth are being slandered in a myriad of ways, and transitioning is made unnecessarily difficult.

So, if you want Hormone Replacement Therapy, how long do you need to see a psychotherapist before you are allowed to start? How many different doctors need to sign off on your treatment? Is changing your gender even legally possible?

You don’t know or are unsure of the answers?

Well, then you know why we are developing this game.

We want to provide a fun way to learn about the topic, or to just blow off some steam by hunting down transphobes.

Technically, plenty of information about transness is available. It is also, however, often hard to find or hard to understand.

We are attempting to simplify this process as much as possible and provide facts in a form that is easier to grasp.

While playing, you will encounter fate, which can go either way each time, you will acquire knowledge that will be useful for the quiz and in so doing collect points with which you will be able to evolve your character and unlock new skills.

The Journey

In the beginning

Our deer starts their journey by traveling to the city. While exploring many different places, they will learn a lot about society, history, and most importantly about themselves. They will encounter various hurdles that need to be overcome and just like in real life, the quest for knowledge can be challenging. Sometimes, you need to chase after it to attain it and test your level of understanding. And sometimes part of your fate is, well, up to fate itself. Start by finding your own path!

Support and growth

An ally’s hugs can go a long way and help you on your journey to transition. Why? Well, who doesn’t like being hugged and supported? 

Gather all the Tokens

In every scene there is at least one token hidden somewhere. Find and collect them all to finish the game.

Transition your character

Every time your deer completes a step in their transition and evolves, they gain new abilities.

NPC's

The "Ally" supports you with hugs, and the "Octopus"  quizzes you, to test your knowledge.

The "Cat" reads your fortune in the cards of fate. The outcome can be positive or negative, but you will learn something either way.

Your Enemies

The "Transphobe" is miserable all the time and therefore very aggressive. Use trans-colored laser beams, or simply crush it under your hooves, to put the "Transphobe" back in its place!

The "Trashie" throws the trash it lives in at you. While its opinions may be literal garbage, they can still sting, so be careful not to get hit. You can knock it over though. Try it, it’s fun! ;-)

The Boss 

We’ll keep this one secret for now. After all, there must be *some* kind of surprise for when you play the game, right? But we promise it‘ll be a cool character and a dastardly villain you’ll enjoy fighting against!

We are a small team, dedicated to the idea of bringing some lightheartedness and fun into a serious political situation.

We are :

TransGenDeer

Our main character is on the journey of transformation, starting without antlers, tattoos and wings. But this journey is not without obstacles! The TransGenDeer has to fight off transphobes, handle passive aggressive guys, and deal with the law and health insurance beaurocracy. Luckily the TransGenDeer is not alone - allies are prepared to provide a shield against attacks.

Ally

This one is the ally of our TransGenDeer. Get a hug to get your shield powered up. Some of the allies have to be woken up, so jump on them ... But be aware, allies might not always be around when you need them.

Octopus

 The carrier of knowledge is helping the player learn about different topics of the queer community.

Cat

 The fortune teller cat is looking into her crystal ball and telling your fate, sometimes good, sometimes bad for your transition.

Transphobe

Transphobes are vicious little things. Contact is really bad, but fortunately there is a shield to protect you. Transphobes will attack you and get faster with each level of transition. It’s dangerous out there without a shield!

Trashie

This passive aggressive guy will be included in the final release. Want to help us find a name? Feel free to enter suggestions in the comments! 

Hurdles

As if life is not hard enough, there surely are some legal issues making your transition a little bit harder. And on top of that the medical service doesn‘t make things easier, so make sure you don’t get caught between the stamp and the paperwork!
